The Spanish Honor Society was founded by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese in 1953, for the students of North American secondary schools; and this chapter is due to the efforts of our chapter president Katherine Brown and Mr. Bryant of Murphy High School who established it this year.
The name of this chapter is: The Panthers.
Our motto is: "All together."
Our colors are: red and gold.
In order to be inducted into and remain in SHH, members must:
· Be a junior or senior, in good standing, enrolled in Spanish IV or V during the current school year,*
· Have and maintain an A average in Spanish IV and/or V,
· Have and maintain a minimum overall weighted GPA of 3.5,
· Pay the one-time $10 fee, and
· Teacher recommendation.
*A senior in Spanish III may be inducted as an honorary member provided he/she meets all other requirements.
*A foreign exchange student from a Spanish or Portuguese-speaking country may be inducted as an honorary member, in compliance with the national standards of SHH.
