Group of teachers

Last week we took a moment to reflect with deep appreciation on the careers of several beloved educators who are retiring. These teachers have given decades of service, leaving behind a legacy of excellence, compassion, and lasting impact on the students, families, and colleagues they’ve touched along the way.

Each of our retiring teachers has been more than just an instructor—they’ve been mentors, role models, encouragers, and champions of student growth. Through changing times, evolving curriculums, and new generations of learners, their commitment to education has remained unwavering.

Whether it was staying late to help a student understand a tough lesson, creating welcoming classrooms where all felt seen, or simply offering a listening ear, these teachers have given more than their time—they’ve given their hearts.

While their daily presence on campus will be deeply missed, their influence will continue in the lives of the students they've taught and the culture they've helped shape. We are grateful for the years of service and the passion they’ve poured into their work.

Thank you for your tireless dedication.
Thank you for showing up—every day—with heart.
Thank you for making a difference.

We wish you a joyful, restful, and fulfilling retirement. May this new chapter be filled with well-deserved relaxation, exciting adventures, and continued inspiration.

Once a teacher, always a teacher. You will always be part of our school family.

With heartfelt gratitude,

The Causey Family

Mrs. Sharon Prince-Kidd has been teaching for 20 years. She began her career with MCPSS as a sign language interpreter for 6 years with the Callahan Regional School for the Deaf and Blind in 1999. She began teaching in 2005 and came to work at Causey Middle School in 2006. She has been dedicated to her students and a wonderful asset to the Causey family.

Coach Tommy Hearn has been working as a teacher for 37 years. He began his career at UMS-Wright Preparatory School, teaching there for 8 years. He has been in public education for 29 years, coming to Causey in 2008. He has spent a lot of his time coaching young athletes in baseball when not at school. In his retirement, he hopes to have time to do more traveling and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Ms. Meredith Nations has been teaching for 25 years. She began her career in elementary education. She has been teaching at Causey since 2018. She has led the LEGO Robotics program in her time here as well as working as a technology support teacher. The staff will miss her helpfulness when an issue with technology arises.

Mrs. Elizabeth Swindall starting teaching in the year 2000. She has been at Causey Middle School since 2002, teaching 6th grade. She says that she will miss her crew (coworkers) in retirement, but is ready to enjoy her time outside of schools.

Mrs. Amy Haas has been teaching for a short 31 years. She has taught at several schools but Causey has been her home since 2005. She loves the students and all her coworkers dearly. The decision to retire was not easy for her, as she could not make a choice for several years. She had put in the time, but still enjoyed teaching and did not feel like she was ready just yet. She finally made her decision just weeks ago and is looking forward to spending time with her family and enjoying her home on the beach.

Causey has been so lucky to have had these great educators on staff for all these years. They will be truly missed but we know that they will be living their best life, enjoying the quiet and relaxation of retirement.

We also celebrated Mrs. Misty Feenstra who has been at Causey for 8 years. She has been an amazing asset to our school and will be greatly missed. Mrs. Feenstra's husband, Jimmy, recently retired from the U.S. Coast Guard and their daughter, Grace, graduated from Baker High School this year. Their family is returning to their home in Georgia to enjoy this next phase in their lives. We wish them all the best.
