Thank you to Mobile County Commissioner Connie Hudson for speaking to our Future Business Leaders of America (MGM FBLA ) students today in celebration of FBLA American Enterprise Day! American Enterprise Day, observed each year on November 15, celebrates the U.S. free enterprise system and the spirit of entrepreneurship. FBLA chapters across the nation recognize this day with activities that promote understanding of capitalism, entrepreneurship, and the importance of a free market economy. Commissioner Hudson met with students from Mary G. Montgomery High School’s FBLA chapter and sponsor Ms. Robinson to discuss Mobile County government and its vital role in recruiting economic development to our area. Our students asked thoughtful questions and remained engaged throughout the discussion — truly an inspiring group of future leaders!

Our Academy Ambassadors, along with Career Coach Mrs. Terra Price, attended the November Semmes Chamber of Commerce meeting. The guest speaker was Lt. Col. Robert “Frank” Barrow (Ret.), who shared inspiring stories about the importance of kindness and the many opportunities that come with dedication and service. Our JROTC cadets proudly presented the colors to open the meeting. It was especially meaningful to hear Lt. Col. Barrow’s experiences in the military just days after celebrating Veterans Day. Lt. Col. Barrow is also retired from MCPSS, most recently serving as the JROTC Commander. We are so proud to be part of such a supportive and connected community!

Our MGM Viking Battalion JROTC cadets proudly marched in the Veteran’s Day Parade in Mobile! Thank you to our cadets for showing their support and respect for our nation’s veterans. Veterans Day, observed each year on November 11, honors all U.S. military veterans who have served in the Armed Forces. The date marks the anniversary of the armistice that ended World War I in 1918—originally celebrated as Armistice Day before becoming Veterans Day in 1954. We are proud of our cadets for representing MGM and honoring those who have served our country. 💙🖤🤍

MGM alumna Kaylei Touchtone was invited to attend the Manufacturing Meeting at the Mobile Chamber alongside Principal Mr. Diaz and Career Coach Mrs. Price. Kaylei represented Mary G. Montgomery High School and MCPSS exceptionally well as she spoke to industry partners about the value of offering opportunities to students and being actively involved in Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs. She also shared how her academy experience, job shadowing, and internship opportunities through MCPSS helped prepare her for success beyond high school.
Kaylei is a true example of how strong partnerships between schools and industry create real pathways to the future workforce. #CareerTechEducation #MCPSS #Manufacturing #WorkBasedLearning #StudentSuccess #MGMVikings #IndustryPartnerships

Students in our Academy of Hospitality and Tourism Culinary I class recently learned the art of baking and decorating sugar cookies. They showcased their creativity by designing cookies to look like pumpkins and then shared their sweet treats with our Pre-K students on Halloween. The Culinary I students did an amazing job, and our little ones absolutely loved their delicious pumpkin cookies! 🎃🍪

Our Pre-K students had an amazingly spooky and fun Halloween! They enjoyed trick-or-treating through the school and collecting lots of sweet treats. With our Visual and Fine Arts teachers, they sang songs, listened to stories, and learned all about bats and spiders. The celebration ended with even more yummy goodies — pumpkin cookies baked and decorated by our talented Academy of Hospitality and Tourism students. Our little ones looked absolutely adorable in their costumes! 🎃🦇🕸️🕷️🍭🍫🍬

Our MGM FBLA students have been busy over the last few weeks. Students participated in the FBLA District 3 workshop. Members from across the district came together to learn more about FBLA, leadership, communication skills, competitive events, and community service initiatives like the March of Dimes. Members also had fun during Halloween by passing out trick or treat candy bags to our Pre-K . They also assisted in the classroom with a fun black cat craft as well as story time. Thank you to these students and sponsors for helping our students be leaders and investing in our ow pre-k students.

Students in our BSU organization visited Alabama State University and The Legacy Museum.

Students were encouraged to think about their education beyond high school. Tour guides at Alabama State University discussed college life, major choices, the admissions process, and other information when planning for college.

At The Legacy Museum students took a walk through history and learned how history touches us daily.

Last week, five Semmes FFA members and their advisor Ms. Dent hit the road to Indianapolis to compete for the first time ever in the National FFA Organization Agricultural Sales CDE! 🚜💼
These students are true trail blazers — representing not just our chapter, but our entire state in a contest that’s brand new to us. Their hard work, preparation, and professionalism have already made us proud.
They earned Bronze status this year, but they represented MGM, Semmes, and Mobile County with Gold standards. No matter the outcome, they’re setting the bar high and paving the way for future competitors! 💪🌾💙💛

Our Academy of Biomedical Science students visited The University of Alabama this past Friday for an exciting day of career exploration and learning about future opportunities in healthcare. Students explored Denny Chimes on the Quad, the Student Recreation Center, the Capstone College of Nursing, and enjoyed lunch at Lakeside Dining Hall. A special highlight of the day was visiting the Capstone College of Nursing, led by MGM alumnus Dr. Julie Tanner Sanford, Dean of the college! Students had the opportunity to see the impressive simulation mannequins and hands-on training facilities that nursing students use as they prepare for their professional careers. Experiences like this help our Vikings connect classroom learning to real-world careers and inspire their next steps after high school.

Thank you to all our veterans and community members who joined us today for our Veterans Day Program. We are truly grateful for your service, sacrifice, and dedication to protecting our freedoms. Veterans Day, observed each year on November 11, marks the anniversary of the end of World War I in 1918. It’s a day to honor all men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces — past and present — for their courage and commitment. A special thank you to the MGM Band, MGM Choir, JROTC, BSU, Multicultural Club, FBLA, Rho Kappa, National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Creative Writing, and many others who helped make today’s program so meaningful. At Mary G. Montgomery High School, we are proud to honor our veterans each year and show our deep appreciation for all they have done — and continue to do — for our country. Skol Vikings! 🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️🤍💙
