Today we had the exciting opportunity to surprise our 2025–2026 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Tracy Box! Mrs. Box was selected by her peers for this honor and is truly deserving. Congratulations on this amazing achievement! 🎉

Please help us in congratulating Ms. Box. She was selected as the Alabama Association of Secondary School Principals (AASSP) Assistant Principal of the Year. Our Principal Mr. Diaz surprised her with the announcement today at a special assembly and pep rally in the school gym. Our Junior and Senior students are looking to connect with companies for job shadow opportunities in February. Today we will focus on the students looking into these STEM and Engineering career paths. MGM PTO is raising money for one of our own. One of our teacher's tragically lost their home to a fire the Saturday before Thanksgiving. We here at MGM are a family and we support each other. Please help us to show her and her family our love and support. Students may bring in a monetary donation to their 1st period teacher this week.

On Thanksgiving day, our Azalea Trail Maids represented MGM and MCPSS by participating in the Chicago Thanksgiving Parade.

Our Pre-K students enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving lunch before the break! 🦃🍽️
They loved getting to share this special meal with family members and celebrate together. Moments like these make our school community feel even more like family!

It is time for Stuff the Bus. We are asking that students donate nw and unwrapped items that are appropriate for teenage children. We will still be happy to collect toys of all ages but try to focus on items for students ages 13-18. Examples below. Items may be brought to 1st period teachers between November 17 and December 10th.

Our Pre-K students enjoyed a festive Snoopy Thanksgiving feast while watching A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving! It was such a fun treat, made possible with the help of our Academy of Hospitality and Tourism students in Mrs. Easterling's Culinary I class and our Fine Arts classes with Mrs. McNellage and Mrs. Watt.

Viking VALOR is our new initiative that highlights the qualities of Venture, Accountability, Leadership, Optimism, and Respect. These students were nominated by their teachers for exemplifying these core values each day. We are so proud of their hard work and dedication! 👏 Congratulations, and great job being true Viking VALOR students!

The MGM Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society (national) competed in the Rocket City Math League Interschool contest on November 19. Members enrolled in Algebra 1 honors up to AP Calculus worked as a team to complete 15 mathematic questions in increasing difficulty with a timeframe of 30 minutes without the use of calculators or any other math aids. 31 members competed in the competition.

Over the weekend at the Mobile Azalea Trail Maids Queen's Coronation, our Azalea Trail Maids received their dress colors. Taylor Killam will be wearing blue and Melody Van Hook will be wearing green. The emcee for the event with MGM Alumna Melissa Grimes Wilder. Melissa served as queen of the Azalea Trail Court for the 2002-2003 year. We were also represented by Agatha Carter Bryant. Agatha is also a MGM Alumna and will serve as president of the 26-27 Court. 🌸🧡💛💚🩵💜🩷 #26Trailing27

👟👞🥾👠Shoe Impressions 🥾👞👟👠
Students in Mrs. Touchstone's Forensic Science classes created their own shoe impressions and added a photo of their shoes to a class database. They put their forensic skills to the test by analyzing impressions from other classes to identify patterns and match characteristics to determine whos shoes matched! They did a wonderful job! However, they all learned that HEYDUDE are the HARDEST shoe impressions to match. 😂 #ForensicScience #VikingCSI

Our MGM Academy of Agribusiness is thinking a little outside of the box this week as they kick off their Landscape Design unit! Introductory activity with a little color theory… and a whole lot of creativity mixed in! These gorgeous poured-paint ornaments were their intro activity, helping students explore color blends, contrast, and harmony.

Extremely tough loss tonight in the 2nd round of the playoffs. We are incredibly proud of our Vikings for an outstanding season and the heart they showed every game. Congratulations to Gabriella Perkins! Gabriella is a dual enrollment student with Bishop State Community College and she recently earned the 1,000,000th credential issued by the NC3 - National Coalition of Certification Centers! 👏
Gabriella is studying Aviation Manufacturing at Faulkner Career Tech Center under the instruction of Dwayne Bowers, gaining hands-on training and industry credentials that are shaping her future in advanced manufacturing.

We are proud to announce that Mary G. Montgomery’s 2024-2025 state report card has increased by 4 points! This achievement reflects the dedication and perseverance of our incredible students and the tireless commitment of our faculty, staff, and community.
