Our PTO presented a check to Mrs. Browning today as she and her family continue to recover after losing their home in a recent fire. We are incredibly grateful for the generous donations from our faculty, students, and community members. It’s moments like these that remind us how special it is to come together and support a fellow Viking in need.

Our MGM Textile Club spent the afternoon spreading holiday cheer at The City of Semmes Honor Park! 🎄✨
This tree is truly a labor of love. Our students knitted many of the ornaments by hand, crafted others from scratch, and even decorated repurposed and reused items to give them a new life. Their creativity and skills were on full display, and their tree tells a story of teamwork and imagination.
We had so much fun decorating, picnicking, and fellowshipping together—thanks to our favorite elf, Mr. Raiford, for bringing us dinner!
I’m so proud of their hard work, dedication, and their willingness to give back to our community in such a meaningful way. Watching them bring their ideas to life—and sharing that joy with others—was the highlight of my week.
If you’re in Honor Park, stop by and see their beautiful tree. It’s a shining example of what happens when students put heart, talent, and kindness into their work. ❤️🎄

Mrs. Nease’s ceramics classes had the honor of hosting guest speakers Mrs. Patricia Silverman and Dr. Donald Berry this past week. Mrs. Silverman worked closely with Mobile’s Holocaust survivor, Agnes Tanenbaum, who spent many years visiting schools and organizations to share her powerful story. After Mrs. Tanenbaum’s passing, Mrs. Silverman continued this work through the Gulf Coast Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Education.
Students from Ceramics, Art, Sociology, Theater, and History were among the first since COVID to hear this meaningful presentation, which connects to this year’s Art and Writing Competition theme: Partisans, Resistance, and Refugees.
This March, the Mobile Museum of Art will feature Resistance: The Wartime Photographs of Jewish Partisan Faye Schulman. All Viking students — especially those who attended the presentation — are encouraged to enter the writing or art/photography competitions inspired by Faye Schulman’s work and the legacy of Agnes Tanenbaum.

Congratulations to Ryan Herzberg. Ryan was chosen as one of Academy of Craft Training November 2025 Employees of the Month. The Employee of the Month for this month was based on their performance during their paid internship over the Thanksgiving break. This recognition is selected by the instructor based on the feedback received from the jobsite supervisors.

Ryan’s instructor, Mr. Beaver said that “This employee has been a stand-out worker, throughout the school year. He received high praise from his supervisor during the Thanksgiving internship. He has proven to be a hard worker that hasn't missed a day this year. He represents our motto "Right Time, Right Gear, Right Attitude" and would make an excellent addition to any construction team. That is why he is my Employee of the Month for November 2025.”

Great job Ryan!

Check out the latest Holiday spirit collection by our students in our Academy of Agri-Science. Our holiday spirit looks a little extra AG-mazing this year 🎄✨
Students showcased their creativity and pride by decorating two Christmas trees for the holidays, each with its own special story:
✈️ Mobile Regional Airport Tree
Welcoming travelers with a warm touch of Americana charm, this tree is wrapped in student-made garland, vintage-inspired ornaments, and homegrown details.
Whether you’re flying home or flying out, we hope this tree reminds you of the heart and hands behind agricultural education—and the traditions we build one project at a time.
🌲 Outdoor Viking Pride Tree at Semmes Honor Park
Back home at the City of Semmes Honor Park, our outdoor tree stands tall, showing off our Viking pride while highlighting one of our favorite places on campus—the greenhouse. From handcrafted decor to colors that represent who we are, this tree is our invitation for the community to stop by, celebrate with us, and remember that growth happens here—year-round.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to share our programs, our students’ work, and a little holiday joy with our community. 💛💙
Here’s to a season full of creativity, hard work, and light.

Students in Mrs. Touchstone’s Forensic Science classes recently studied blood typing as part of their curriculum. Blood typing plays an important role in forensic investigations by helping narrow down suspects and supporting other pieces of evidence.

Our students experienced what it’s like to work in a serology lab as they tested blood types firsthand. They didn’t just learn about agglutination (clumping)—they actually got to see it happen. Watching their understanding deepen as the “how and why” clicked was the best part of the day!

Key Club hosted a lunchtime fundraiser recently, and the mission was simple, tape Coach Long to the wall.
Students bought strips of tape for $1 and while Coach Long didn’t quite stick, they did stick to the real goal, raising money for USA Children's and Women's Hospital.
Huge shoutout to Peyton Whatley, the biggest donor!
